Hellooooo there! 👋🏼👋🏼

I’m Shirsha, a high-key chaotic blogger from India with a caffeine-and-kitten-addiction. (yes, it’s an actual problem). ☕😸

Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in English literature, I’ve valiantly balanced my love for popcorn stories with required readings of James Joyce and Partha Chatterjee. Though I’m severely overwhelmed by the process of deciding on a career path (potentials include publishing, academics, content writing, bestselling novelist, or bougie pani puri business), one thing has always been constant — my desire to share good stories with good people, whether they’re stories written by me or by other amazing humans.

This blog is a small attempt to fulfil that wish, but I feel obligated to share certain crucial facts about me that will help you make better sense of the general chaos that prevails on this blog 👉🏼👉🏼

🐈‍⬛ My entire family functions as a cat magnet. No one attracts stray cats as much as my mother and I don’t fall much far behind, having collected 4 strays so far myself. The sum of the matter now is that there are 12 cats lounging in and around my room all day, and you are very likely to find random cat jokes, cat memes and other catty paraphernalia around this blog.

📚 My mom always said that I could be whatever I wanted, so I decided to become ✨extra✨. I read everything from existentialist fiction to kindle eroticas that never saw the face of a proofreader. The same goes for cinema. I love Pather Panchali, Bahubali, Haikyuu, Train To Busan, Majid Majidi’s Baran, and I watched 365 Dni just for the laughs. This basically means that you’ll find a wild range in the recommendations on this blog.

🍕 Influenced greatly by Ratatoullie, I have spent years following nearly every cooking blog and youtube channel out there. This has given me some strange abilities wherein I am unable to cook a simple lentil soup but can and will instruct you on the different methods of preparing hollandaise sauce. I am still trying to figure out how to include my love of food on this blog, but expect random suggestions for what dish might complement what book best.

👽 My goal is to speak 10 languages someday. Like, simultaneously. All at once. Smoothly transition from one language to another and back in the span of the same conversation and bamboozle innocent listeners. That is the dream! I have three and a half languages under my belt, the struggle for the rest of them is ongoing, and the GROW section on this blog will eventually house some articles on my tried and true tips for self-learning languages.

👀 A random uncle on a bus once told me to stop reading junk like Agatha Christie and read real books like ‘Alberthee Kamous’ instead. It took me 3 more stops to realise that he had meant Albert Camus. By then, said uncle had gotten down and I am still righteously salty about not being able to deliver a solid comeback. In my daydreams, I have come up with at least 13 potential things I could have said. This isn’t particularly relevant, but I felt the need to memorialize this moment.

🎉 Alright! That’s it! Now I command you to enjoy this blog!!! 🎉
